This blog is for anyone who has ever gone to Europe, fell in love with a food or product, and is simply dying without it back in the States. I will share places throughout New England where you can find these foods or products - or ones that are comparable.

Deutsch Chocolate

Okay, so maybe when you think of Germany chocolate doesn't immediately come to mind. However, I have to say, Germany has some of the best chocolate out there. Perhaps it is because they boarder Switzerland, the motherland of great chocolate. Either way, their chocolate is rich, creamy and just melts in your mouth.

Ritter Sport, my absolute favorite, comes in the traditional milk and dark, but also a wide variety of the traditional chocolate bar. To name a few:
  • milk chocolate/white chocolate swirl
  • peppermint filling
  • strawberry and yogurt filling
  • cappuccino
  • milk chocolate with rum and hazelnut pieces
Due to increased popularity, Ritter Sport can be picked up in almost any grocery or pharmacy store in the US. In grocery stores, head to the international foods aisle, while in the pharmacy, check the candy or chocolate section.

English Cellar Alehouse - An English Pub in the Heart of Providence

Have you ever taken a trip to the UK, experienced some of their widely famous pubs, then come back to the US and only be offered Budweiser? Ugh. The days of having to choose between five watered down beers is over. Welcome to the English Cellar Alehouse, where you can choose from over 150 beers from around the world! This  authentic feeling English bar has all the regular pub brews, as well as some exotic flavors enjoyed by people around the world.

The cellar atmosphere gives you the feeling that you are in a "hole-in-the-wall" pub in North Wales, complete with dim lighting, football (soccer for us Americans) games on the "telly" and a real English telephone booth.

Besides offering over 150 beers, the English Cellar Alehouse offers authentic English food. From Shepard's Pie and Bangers and Mash, to your traditional burger and wings. Also, the English Cellar Alehouse menu offers suggestions on what beer best suits each meal.
